6 Questions You Should Ask Before Choosing a Vet in Rothwell

1. Will I get to know who cares for my pet?

It’s always reassuring to see a familiar face. One who remembers you and your pet, and the reasons you’ve been in before. That’s why at Beehive Vets we’ll always try to make sure you can see the same vet or nurse you’ve seen before so we can build up a relationship and get to know you all.

We’re a family run practice and our family includes our team and customers. Your furry friends will be given treats and cuddles, and we won’t rush things because we all genuinely love catching up with people and pets and being able to offer continuity of care for life.

2. Are they well recommended?

Word of mouth recommendations are key to choosing a service – especially one as important as a vet. We know we offer a great service, but it’s what others think that really counts.

Some of the lovely things said about us in Facebook reviews:

Had Luke as a locum for our practice on the Wirral. Great vet and excellent surgeon. Trained with Esther and another fab vet! Please register with this excellent independent vets.

Esther and Luke are both amazing vets. Couldn’t recommend them enough! Best of luck with your new practice ♥️

3. Is this a cat-friendly practice?

Going to the vet can be a really unnerving experience for your cat, especially if there are dogs and other scary animals in the same place. To help your cat find it all a bit less intimidating, we have taken steps to make the environment a lot more relaxing.

We have a cat-only waiting area and we’ve also provided a waiting area outside of our main waiting room for those extra nervous pets! Then also a separate cat ward for any hospital stays where we do all we can to keep them calm.

Our cat areas use plug in facial pheromones so they feel safe and relaxed and our kennels are spacious so that there are plenty of places to relax or hide. We will be applying for Cat Friendly Clinic status with iCat Care as soon as we have opened, more details are available on their website https://catfriendlyclinic.org/

4. Is it easy to park?

Our practice has its own spacious car park with disabled parking, which means you’ll be right outside, and you won’t need to waste any time finding somewhere to leave your car. We are also just off the high street if you need to pop in after your supermarket shop.

5. Is this the right practice for my nervous pet?

Some pets can be very anxious about visiting the vets, either because they’re naturally wary of new situations or because they associate it with something uncomfortable or unpleasant. We recognise that dealing with an anxious pet is as stressful for owners as it is for the animal going through it.

At Beehive Vets, we’re trying to change that.

We aim to develop a healthy and trusting relationship with your pet, not frighten them and make them dread the next trip. Examining a nervous animal is also tricky, so it enables us to take much better care of them if they’re happy.

Our practice has separate cat and dog waiting areas and separate cat and dog wards. Any hospitalised cats and dogs will always be kept away from one another. If your pet doesn’t like entering the practice, you’re free to wait outside in the car park before your consultation, or you can also use our second, smaller, waiting area, which is designed for those pets who find it difficult around other animals. We also actively encourage dog owners to pop in whenever they’re passing so your pooch can have a cuddle and a treat before continuing their day. This helps send positive messages to them that good things happen here too!

6. Is this practice going to make my life easier?

Life is busier than ever, and keeping up with essential preventative healthcare basics can easily slip through the net.

Our Healthy Hive Club will help you with that.

We will make sure that your pet is protected all year round from fleas, mites, worms and ticks (products can be posted out at no additional cost or collected from the surgery), all routine vaccinations are included, you will benefit from discounts on key services including dental treatments, and, if you have any health concerns, you can make use of our Unlimited Consultations with a vet or nurse throughout the year.

We’ll remind you when treatments are due, and make sure we keep on top of your pet’s wellbeing. This is not only good for your pet’s health and happiness but also good for your pocket as we can often tackle any problems before they become expensive.
